The May edition of the 2011 Hokie Storm Chase is starting to wind down, and we haven’t seen a tornado yet. Could today be the day?
The “building” theme continued with our excursion into eastern Kansas yesterday, but not before taking a very significant turn very quickly.
It’s been a long three chase days on this trip. Some of the biggest names in storm chasing had nothing good to say about today’s setup; could it be possible that we fared better than they?
The Virginia Tech storm chase team has struck out for two consecutive days. Would the third time be the charm?
Continuing the “building” theme of this trip, with another day more promising than the last. However, our disappointments, too, continue to build.
Our first chase day today, and we missed out on the one tornado sighted. However, we had good reason.
Two days in, and we’ve logged 1300 miles and crossed five states. The real work starts tomorrow.

We’ve spent the better part of a week and a half watching weather models and trying to decide on our first target. Friday and Saturday we all rushed to pack and make last-minute preparations.
