Silent Music Revival, an organization that is interested in the juxtaposition of music and film brings their party to Firehouse Theatre on Sunday. The film = Menilmontant (1926). The music = Jonathan Vassar & friends. The way these things roll is at said event a classic silent short film is played while accompanied by either live music (as is the case this Sunday) or a DJ spinning records overtop of the film. The musicians have never previously viewed the movie. Sunday, November 16, Fire House Theatre, 1609 W. Broad Street, 9pm (sharp), free.

VCU Rams take on The Citadel Sunday. RVANews plans to be there, WILL YOU?!? Don’t think my live blogging of the game is any kind of substitute for the actual roundball experience!……SPORTS!!!! Sunday, November 16, The Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad Street, 4pm, $15.

SPORTS!!!(cont) The Redskins are going to beat up on the Cowboys Sunday night at 9pm. Even if Barack Obama was playing QB for the Cowboys (which would never happen because he is required to be a Redskins fan now) they could never stop the rising tidal wave of Redskins awesomeness. Sunday night, 9pm, TV, free!!

VCU welcomes 2008 VCU Cabell First Novelist winner Travis Holland, his agent, Amy Williams, and his editor, Dial Press Vice President Susan Kamil, as they trace the journey of Holland’s masterful “The Archivist’s Story” from first draft to literary sensation. The reading and book discussion are free and open to the public, as well as the book signing and reception immediately following. Friday, November 14, 2008, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Avenue, free.

For the fifth and final thing I had high hopes that maybe this band that’s playing at the national called Cobra Starship?!?!? would be sweet but that didn’t work out. AND Allen Toussaint is in C-ville on Saturday but that doesn’t work because…you know, Charlottesvile = bitter rivals/blows. Then I saw that the new Brendan Fraser Mummy movie is at The Byrd ANNNND the midnight movie is The Goonies (which I have never seen bc its on this weird gap of movies that I have….Back to the Future, Teenwolf etc.) Anyhow those are obviously my fifth things….Brendan Fraser etc…
