VCU’s conference basketball schedule announced

On Thursday afternoon, the Atlantic 10 Conference announced the home and away meetings for all basketball programs.

On Thursday afternoon, the Atlantic 10 Conference announced the home and away meetings for all basketball programs. Unlike the CAA’s 18-game schedule, the A-10 only plays 16 games. This year VCU will play every team, but Richmond, once. They’ll play Richmond twice as they are natural rivals. After Charlotte and Temple depart in 2013, the schedule will change again.

• University of Massachusetts
• University of Richmond*
• Saint Joseph’s University

Away Games

• Charlotte
• Duquesne
• Rhode Island
• University of Richmond*
• St. Bonaventure
• St. Louis
• Temple
• Xavier

The dates for the games have yet to be announced, but the Black & Blue Classic x2 and the VCU-Butler rematch will undoubtedly garner significant attention. The VCU-Butler game will mark the first rematch since the Bulldogs beat the Rams 70-62 in the 2011 Final 4.

The Ram’s road schedule is extremely daunting¹ as they will face the conferences’ top four finishers from 2012 outside the comfortable confines of the Siegel Center.
