Update: VCU freshman Antravious Simmons to transfer to FGCU
VCU redshirt freshman Antravious Simmons will transfer to FGCU at the end of the semester.
Update #1 — December 19, 2014; 3:36 PM
Antravious Simmons will transfer to Florida Gulf Coast. A Miami native, Simmons will get plenty of opportunities to play closer to home in Fort Meyers, Florida. The Eagles caught headlines two years ago when they stormed to the Sweet 16 as a #15 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Andy Enfield moved to Southern California the following season, but FGCU is 8-2 and primed to have continued success in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

VCU redshirt freshman Antravious Simmons will transfer at the end of the semester. The 6-foot-9, 250 pound freshman from Miami, Florida is seeking the opportunity to play elsewhere.
After sitting out last year, the big man has only played nine minutes in three games this season. He is regularly considered one of the most popular teammates on the roster.
“We appreciate the contributions that Antravious has made to our program for nearly the past two years. We wish him nothing but the best as he moves to the next stage of his career.”Coach Shaka Smart
Like recent transfers Reco McCarter, Teddy Okereafor, and Jairus Lyles, Simmons has an opportunity to become a big-time contributor on a mid-major team.
The move opens up a scholarship next season and the Rams traditionally over-sign by one player. Expect Coach Smart to add one or two more players to the 2015 recruiting class.
