The last extended homestand of the season kicks off tonight with the Squirrels hosting the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and then the Portland Sea Dogs this week for their only series at the Diamond this season.
The Fisher Cats (67-48) lost 2 of 3 to Squirrels (56-58) in New Hampshire last week, including a 10-0 shellaccing in the final game. Fighting with the Trenton Thunder (68-47) for 1st place in the Eastern Division, New Hampshire is all but guaranteed a play-off spot with an eleven game lead over the 3rd place Reading Phillies (55-58).
The Squirrels picked up 2 games on the recent road trip in the fight to break even for season and come home just 2 games under .500. Returning to the Diamond on a hot streak and with Daryl Maday back in the rotation, the Squirrels are in a good position to see a successful run to end this inaugural season. Richmond has won 7 of their last 10 games and have taken the last 3 series.
