Briante Weber charged with petit larceny

Senior point guard Briante Weber has been issued a summons stemming from an incident involving a stolen iPhone on July 24th.

The Richmond Times Dispatch is reporting that senior point guard Briante Weber was issued a summons for petit larceny. According to documents, an iPhone valued at $200 was stolen on July 24th. Anything beyond $200 is considered grand larceny.

Weber will miss a closed scrimmage, an exhibition game against California Pa., and the season opener against Tennessee. Without veteran backcourt members Weber and Rob Brandenberg who graduated, JeQuan Lewis and Melvin Johnson will be forced to do the heavy lifting against a team coming off of a Sweet 16 appearance.

Weber led the nation with 121 steals last season and he is currently 90 steals away from setting the NCAA career-record. Weber will likely start on 11/18 in the Rams’ home opener against Toledo.
