Weather! Heat, humidity make triumphant return
Get excited. Kind of. The heat and humidity make their sweaty return!
I don’t know how much fanfare there will actually be, but there will be a return.
It starts today, as dewpoints have climbed back into the 60s this morning, giving Monday a very muggy start. Temperatures that are currently in the mid 60s will climb into the mid 80s this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. There’s not much of a chance of rain today, but areas east of I-95 may see an isolated thunderstorm or two pop up this afternoon. Other than that, the rain threat will be very small. Tonight, temperatures will drop back into the low 60s.
Following the humidity, the heat makes its return Tuesday thanks to an area of high pressure building in from the west. In addition to giving us clear skies all day long, it also means that we’re looking at high temperatures in the low 90s, with overnight lows in the upper 60s. When combined with the humidity, we will likely see heat indices in the upper 90s during the peak of the afternoon.
By the second half of the week, the heat is in full swing again, with highs in the upper 90s likely into the weekend. We may make a run at some records later this week.
