Tastings and classes at River City Cellars and Secco

River City Cellars is offering beer and wine tastings Thursday and Friday night of this week, and Secco is bringing back classes about wine, beer, cheese, and pairing. Come get the deets!

River City Cellars (2931 W. Cary Street) is offering its free monthly beer and wine tastings this week. Tonight, Thursday, January 6, from 5pm to 7 pm, for Carytown’s First Thursday, they offer Big Barley Wine and Imperial Stout for their beer tasting. Tomorrow, Friday, January 7 from 5pm to 7pm, is their “holiday decompression” wine tasting, with five mid-priced, classically-styled European wines to serve on leisurely winter days. Bring your own glass so you don’t have to drink out of the mandated disposable, plastic mini-cups.

RCC’s wine bar, Secco (2933 W. Cary Street), next door, has a new wine list and will be bringing back monthly classes about wine, beer, cheese, or pairing. The next class will be Saturday, February 5, from 3pm to 4:30pm.  For February’s class, you get to vote on the topic. Email info@seccowinebar.com with your vote for one of the following:

a. Wine 101
b. Belgian Beers
c. Italian Cheese
