FOOD! Olio May wine dinner

After lower attendance at their last Indian-food wine dinner, Olio will return to its roots with a more European-influenced dinner on Friday, May 4.

After lower attendance at their last Indian-food wine dinner, Olio will return to its roots with a more European-influenced dinner on Friday, May 7. Owner Jason Savedoff did note that April’s cuisine received more praise than any other dinner, with diners even buying leftovers of some of the Indian dishes.

In May, Maurice Frank of Cellar Door Importers will present a portfolio of never-before-carried-at-Olio wines. Call 804-355-5182 to book your seat. $30 (per person) includes food, wine, and tax, but not gratuity. Jason and sous chef Rebecca will present the following seasonal menu:

Course One
Spicy Shrimp Soup–Thai-influenced with rice noodles and fresh rock shrimp

Course Two
Smoked Rainbow Trout Bruschetta–a light and delicate mousse made from savory smoked trout atop grilled baguette with a pickled cucumber relish

Course Three
Crispy Pork–organic black Berkshire pork shoulder medallions crispened over charcoal and slow roasted until tender. Served with local “green garlic” mashed potatoes

Course Four
Walnut Fruit Tarts-local fruit tossed with cream cheese anglaise and drizzled with chocolate mint simple syrup over walnut shortbread

(Note: limited off-street parking available!)
