Favorites: Sub Rosa’s salami and cheese croissant

A simple food done well–like a crisp, buttery croissant–needs little help to make it delicious. Sub Rosa bakes nearly perfect croissants, but they also know how to add the right ingredients to elevate the humble roll. My favorite version is the salami and cheese croissant ($4.25). Tucked inside the flakey dough are slices of rich Olli salami melted into sharp and nutty Manchego cheese. Judging by the line on Sub Rosa’s re-opening day, Richmond is very happy for their return, so early morning is your best bet for finding this treat.
