The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing (4708 E. Main Street) will be holding a New Year’s Eve dinner Friday, December 31. Seatings are available from 5pm to 10:30pm and The Rhythmasters play (again) from 6pm to 9pm.
 Just like their Christmas Even dinner, any size reservation is guaranteed with a credit card. Both their regular menu and a special holiday menu are available. Call 804-622-BOAT.

Pescados China Street has a 5-course New Year’s Eve menu planned. Lots of seafood and espresso-rubbed beef short ribs, and dessert for $69 per person. A wine pairing is available for each course at an additional price. They’re offering four reserved seating windows. Call 804-644-FISH for details.

Six Burner (1627 W. Main Street) will be open as usual from 5:30pm 10:30pm with their regular menu as well as a special New Year’s menu (see below). Call or email for reservations: 804-353-4060 or info@sixburner.net

: Day boat scallops, pumpkin, savoy cabbage, truffled celeriac cream ($14)

Entrees: Lobster cassoulet, black eyed peas, country ham, peanut and a slightly spicy component ($32); Fennel & coriander encrusted veal rack, southern fried sweetbreads, black trumpets, braised kale, mustard demi ($32)

Secco (2933 W. Cary Street) is now taking reservations for New Year’s Eve for a multi-course tasting menu, complete with full vegetarian options and hand-crafted beer and wine pairings. Space is limited, so no walk-ins will be permitted. Two hour seatings available (last one at 9:15 pm). Cost is $65 for the regular menu, $45 for the vegetarian menu, $20 for the beer pairing, $30 for the wine pairing. All prices exclude taxes and gratuity.  Email info@seccowinebar.com with your name, phone number, best time to call, number of guests (no more than 4), preferred time, and menu selection (regular, veggie, optional wine or beer pairing).

Amour Wine Bistro (3129 W. Cary Street) will offer a six-course New Years Eve menu paired with six glasses of wine from 9:30pm to 1am. Reservation only. Prix fixe at $220 per person. Call 804-353-4020 for details.

Second Appetizer: Spinach Salad with Goat cheese roasted Red Pepper with Pinot Gris

Third Appetizer: Lamb Chop Lollipop with celery root puree and garlic confit with Bordeaux Red Pauillac

Tournedos of Veal with Calvados Apple Sauce with Pinot Noir

Bonvenu (2915 W. Cary Street) is a prime location to watch the New Year’s Eve ball rise over the Byrd Theatre. They’re offering their regular menu with chef specials and a complimentary glass of champagne for each diner. Three dinner seatings, at 5, 7, and 9pm. Bar open from 5pm to 2am, with drink specials after 10pm. Call 804-342-1003.

Sine Irish Pub (1327 E. Cary Street) will be celebrating the New Year two times on Friday, December 31, 2010! Enjoy a toast to the New Year with the homeland at 7pm (New Year’s in Ireland) and again at midnight when the official New Year begins on the East Coast of the United States. There will also be a special menu, live music, as well as music from DJ James on the heated patio. No cover charge before 8pm; minimal charge after 8pm.

Rowland Fine Dining (3132 W. Main Street) will be serving a special New Year’s meal for $100 per couple (plus tax and tip). Call 804-257-9885 for reservations.

First course: Butternut Manicotti with Caramelized Pears, Gorgonzola and Hazelnut Buerre Noisette; Roasted Beet and Avocado, Cabbage Hill Field Greens with Pistachio Goat Cheese Fritter and Champagne Vinaigrette; Stuffed Poblano Pepper with Red Wine Braised Short Rib, Charred Corn and Manchego Cheese; or Maine Lobster Cake with Silver Queen Corn Chowder

Main course: Free Range Veal Ribeye Chop Grilled with Shaved Brussel Sprouts and Porcini Bread Pudding and Madeira Glace; Braised Colorado Lamb Shank and Cannellini Bean Cassoulet with Smoked Tomatoes and Crispy Pancetta; Yellow Tail Snapper and Prawns over Celery Root with Chantrelles, Pearl Onions and a Golden Raisin Butter; or Seared Scallops and Spaghettini with Broccoli Rabe, Roasted Garlic, House Smoked Tomatoes, Pecorino, Shellfish Jus and Toasted Pine Nuts
