Cafe Gutenberg rises like a Phoenix, Hardywood Brewery gets the Christmas spirit, and what’s a Blowtoad anyway?

The folks behind the former Cafe Gutenberg entering into the food cart business, a Brazillian grill is set to close up shop in Shockoe, and Jimmy Sneed’s new restaurant is this close to opening.

Richmond.com takes a sneak peek at Blowtoad, Jimmy Sneed’s new restaurant that is going into the old Double T’s Barbeque location in Carytown, slated for a late December opening. They are taking the menu very seriously with constant brainstorming and revisions being done on a huge dry erase board in Sneed’s office. The main menu headers include: fresh, steaks, wings, and pizzas. Hopefully we will see a final draft of the menu soon.

The folks from Cafe Gutenberg are back! This time with a Rooster Cart! The lunch cart is not quite ready to hit the streets, but has released their menu so you can go ahead and plan what you would like plenty in advance. Check it out here.

According to Richmond Bizsense, Dora’s Brazilian Grill is now closed. The restaurant opened last year next to Sine in Shockoe Bottom and specialized in Rodizo style dining, which is when a variety of meats are served on swords and sliced onto individual plates.

Hardywood Brewery is getting into the Christmas spirit with the release of their Gingerbread Stout this Saturday. The new release is brewed with local Casselmonte Farm Ginger and Bearer Farm Honey. Hardywood will also have special small batch variations available which will include everything from using local coffee roasters to chocolate and vanilla versions. Free parking and entry, cash bar for growlers and beers along with local food carts on site for the eats. More info can be found on their Facebook page.
