Reminder: Jazz Beyond Festival Tomorrow

Free jazz legend Gunter Hampel headlines the Jazz Beyond Festival at The Camel on Friday night.

If you’ve never heard of Gunter Hampel (like me this time last month), do yourself a favor and check him out online before you rule out from your weekend plans tomorrow night’s Jazz Beyond Festival. Earlier this month, I posted about the festival and included some interesting videos of Hampel, but don’t let me stop you from discovering more about this man’s serious street cred (biography, discography, acclaim, youtube). Seeing him live will be a rare opportunity and a chance to see into a possibly unfamiliar musical world.

Also appearing will be New Loft, Chromatic Mysteries, and brianjonespercussionensemble.

Jazz Beyond Festival featuring Gunter Hampel Trio + Bass, New Loft, brianjonespercussionensemble, and Chromatic Mysteries with Elliot Levin, takes place Friday, September 25, 2009, at The Camel (1621 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA). Tickets are $7.
