2012 CAA Tournament: the teams

This weekend, 12 very different teams will face off in the Richmond Coliseum. While all 12 teams are chasing the Colonial Athletic Association title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament that comes with it, each team has a different story.

VCU wins 10 straight, and the big dogs eat

With the exception of Robert Nwankwo, the Towson Tigers looked completely lost on offense Wednesday night as the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams cruised to their 10th straight win, 66-43, in the Stuart C. Sigel Center.

What to expect: VCU hosts Towson

After blowing a double figure lead to the lukewarm Northeastern Huskies on Saturday, the Rams need a confidence boosting “teaching” game more than ever. Towson on the other hand is likely dreading their trip to the Siegel Center where they are 0-8. If the Rams’ offense can perform at a level anywhere near its potential, VCU will likely cover the 24.5 point spread.

VCU crushes the Towson Tigers

Coming off of 40 consecutive losses, Towson didn’t stand much of a chance against the Virginia Commonwealth University. It took help from some less frequent contributors, but VCU beat the Towson Tigers 67-42 on Wednesday night in Towson, MD.

What to expect: VCU at Towson

After three consecutive home games in five days, the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams hit the road to face the Towson University Tigers. After starting the first half of the CAA season 7-2, the Rams will hope to pick up another W against, arguably, the worst team in Division 1 basketball.
