Just after paddling under the Atlantic Coast Line Bridge and through the Choo Choo Rapids as you head toward the south bank of the river and the pipeline, there is a very large metal detached pipe half buried in the sand. It is big enough for a canoe to fit inside and maybe about 20 feet long. As long as I’ve been paddling on the James that pipe has been there, but I’ve never seen or heard anything that would indicate why it is there.
Does anyone know anything about that pipe?
