Two Short Pump area schools were honored by the well-known publication U.S. News & World Report as among the best in the nation. Both Deep Run High School and Godwin High School took Silver Medal honors in the rankings, based on the College Readiness Index.

The annual survey, which examines over 21,000 schools nationwide, is based on test scores, comparison to state level benchmarks and how well the schools serve the entire student body. Silver medal rankings are awarded to schools that did not make the Top 100 ranking but that have a College Readiness Index of at least 20 (a rating derived from the aforementioned criteria).
