From the Hunt for Henrico History commemorating 400 years of our county’s rich history and a family-friendly comedy show to the grand opening of a new locally-owned Short Pump store and the CMOR 30th anniversary, there’s lots to choose from!

1. Mom’s Treehouse Grand Opening

Saturday, January 29

Come and celebrate the opening of Mom’s Treehouse, a great place for moms and kids full of great things to do! Goody bags, free raffle entry, Silly Bus performance, car seat safety checks and more. Please bring a donation for ASK.

2. West End Comedy @ HATTheatre

Friday, January 28

John Porter offers entertaining stand-up & stories for families followed by short-form improv similar to “Whose Line is It Anyway,” using suggestions from the audience. Richmond’s only improv show for all ages; never see the same show twice! A portion of sales will benefit Kate Kozonasky, a victim of the apartment fire in Philadelphia that captured the attention of national news; she lost everything. Hopefully, donations will help her recover.

3. Children’s Museum of Richmond’s 30th Anniversary

Saturday, January 29

Seymour and all of his mascot friends will be kicking off the 30th anniversary of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. Come out for a great day of family fun with plenty of fun games for kids and families! Be entertained with fun magic tricks from Jonathan Austin, visit with Seymour and all of his mascot friends, decorate your own cupcake in our special Birthday workshop, enjoy ice cream treats, compliments of Dairy Bar and end the day with a Dance Party with Seymour!

4. SPARC Presents “The World Goes ‘Round” – The Songs of Kander & Ebb

Friday, January 28 through Sunday, January 30

Kander and Ebb created some of Broadway and Hollywood’s wittiest and most memorable songs: “All That Jazz,” “Cabaret,” “How Lucky Can you Get” and “New York, New York” are just a few of their dazzling achievements. The SPARC ensemble presents “The World Goes ‘Round” in a captivating cabaret genre in the theater at the SPARC Center. Experience the intimacy of the theater, the spirit and style of Kander and Ebb presented by Richmond’s most talented young performers.

5. Hunt for Henrico History

Saturday, January 29

Take a unique look at Henrico County’s past as we commemorate our diverse history with a day of living history presentations and unique historic displays highlighting Henrico neighborhoods, schools, churches and civic organizations along with special activities for kids. Take part in capturing the personal side of Henrico’s history with a unique “show and tell” project when you bring in a family photograph, document or memento. You’ll have the opportunity for this memorabilia to be photographed or scanned for inclusion in a public archive preserving our collective histories. Experts will also be on hand to offer advice on storing and caring for your personal treasures.
