The Republic facing eviction over unpaid rent

Richmond Magazine has an update on the fate of The Republic: The owner of the building occupied by The Republic, Matthew Appleget, is suing Republic owner Antonio Hawkins for alleged back rent — $168,820.69 of back rent, to be exact, according to the unlawful detainer summons posted on the restaurant’s front door.
