5 pm Opening Reception

6 pm Keynote Speaker: Film critic Molly Haskell (author of Frankly My Dear)

7 pm Film: Margaret Mitchell: American Rebel (2011). This new documentary shows how Margaret Mitchell both defied and upheld southern mores by offering surprising insights into her personal life and famous novel Gone with the Wind.

8 pm Panel Discussion: John Wiley, Ellen Brown (authors of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind), & Molly Haskell Moderator: Professor Jane Lucas, University College, VCU

A portion of Mr. Wiley’s vast collection of Gone with the Wind memorabilia will be on display.

Sat, Feb 25

1 pm Film: Shenandoah (1965). In one of his finest roles, Jimmy Stewart plays Charlie Anderson, a Virginia farmer whose family attempts to remain neutral during the Civil War.

4 pm Film: The Black Six (1974). In the “blaxploitation” tradition, six bikers, all played by NFL stars, travel throughout the South to avenge the death of a comrade.

Post-Film Discussion: Willie Lanier (NFL Hall of Fame linebacker, actor in film) with Professor Emilie Raymond, VCU history department
