Social Buzz: Peter Chang’s Cafe Opens in Short Pump to Much Fanfare

Acclaimed chef Peter Chang, known for his Szechwan-style Chinese cuisine and a number of restaurants he’s started in the southeast, has quite the following. This past week, Chang opened Peter Chang’s Cafe in the Short Pump Commons shopping center near Walmart, and everyone took notice–foodies and otherwise.

This past week, Chang opened Peter Chang’s Cafe in the Short Pump Commons shopping center near Walmart, and everyone took notice–foodies and otherwise.

Chang, 49, currently owns one other restaurant in Charlottesville, which opened in March of last year. Born in the Hubei Province of Central China, Chang cooked meals for President Hu Jintao before moving to the United States to work in the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C.
