Ruth & Ollie, currently at 3445 West Cary Street, announced today that they will be moving to the “bigger & better building” at 3106 and 3108 West Cary Street (formerly Leo Burke Furniture).

It’s a great 9,000 square foot building, with incredible visibility in the heart of Carytown. We are so excited! We have already searched out some new suppliers to help us expand our offerings and can’t wait to bring Richmond more of the look we started 7 years ago. We’ve been very lucky to have found a wonderful niche and will not change much about the look and feel of Ruth & Ollie. Mike will continue to run the store and open boxes, and Kat is sooo excited to have the amazing display windows to design. Also, since we are Richmond’s exclusive supplier of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams furniture, we will have even more of their well known furnishings, as well as expanding our offerings of our other manufacturers. As you may know, today we have sofas, chairs, tables, lighting and accessories…when we get in the new space we are evaluating adding some new “lines” – stay tuned.

You may ask “what the heck are you thinking….more than doubling your retail space”? The answer is we inherited a bunch of money and it is burning a hole in our pocket. Kidding! The real story is we’ve grown each year since we opened our doors in 2006 – despite the difficult economic times. The furniture industry has had a few rough years, but we’ve been blessed with a great customer response to our look. We continue to visit four markets a year and buy the things we love and want in our store, and we feel the time is right for us to grow again. So, when the building became available, we put together a plan, talked to Jack Burke and everything fell into place. Yes, we are little nervous, but we are also incredibly excited and can’t wait for the Grand Opening.

In closing, we’d like to thank the tens of thousands of people who have wandered into our store, become our customers and have allowed us to help them with their homes. We are truly indebted to all of our customers as well as our great employees for the support they have given us.

One last thing…we will remain at our current location until the new space opens in June 2013.
