After 14 years in Carytown, River City Cellars (RCC) will close, said its owner Julia Battaglini, who made the announcement to her Facebook friends last night.

“Retail is never easy and this last year has been particularly difficult–I am hardly alone in this,” wrote Battaglini. Owner of the adjacent Secco Wine Bar, Battaglini said that the River City Cellars space will yield to a Secco expansion.

“The silver lining is that Secco Wine Bar is thriving and so we’ll be expanding into the RCC space over the next few months. We’ll start with classes and private events and then look to bigger changes in the spring.”
