From Petersburg Police: Public comments will be received for the Petersburg Bureau of Police submission for funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (JAG) Program. Petersburg, VA will be eligible for $330,535 of which the Bureau proposes the following: $298,000 will be used to purchase 12 police cruisers, $20,000 will be allocated for a promotional Assessment Center (the process used to promote sworn personnel through the ranks), $7,535 for printing community information materials, and $5,000 for administrative cost. To promote transparency and accountability, public notification is a requirement that must be met to receive funding. Citizens can discuss the application on Wednesday April 15, 2009 at police headquarters from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Please notify the grants office at 804-479-6248 to confirm attendance.
