When the owner of Nacho Mama’s in Richmond’s Carytown isn’t running his restaurant, he’s traveling overseas or spending time at a home in Florida’s West Palm Beach.
“I love to travel,” said Cantu, who also is president of the Carytown Merchants Association.
But Cantu brings a different perspective to traveling — he grew up a migrant worker moving from campsite to campsite picking fruit, vegetables and cotton with his grandparents, Mexican immigrants. The early experience gave Cantu a sense of restlessness that age and community roots have not been able to completely purge.
