The Short Pump location of organic chain Pizza Fusion has closed its restaurant in the Short Pump Station shopping center, near Trader Joe’s. A sign was recently placed on the front door explaining that the franchise would be closed due to”technical difficulties,” but have since yet to reopen more than a week later, signaling the high probability of permanent closure.

Pizza Fusion maintained a steady lunch crowd, but faced an increasingly saturated pizza market in Short Pump with nearby restaurants such as Ledo’s Pizza, Two Guys Pizza and Extreme Pizza.

The owner of Oregon Hill restaurant Pescado’s China Street is starting a new venture in Short Pump. Todd Manley is preparing to open “The White Anchovy” in the Lauderdale Square shopping center at the corner of Lauderdale Drive and Church Road, in space formerly occupied by seafood restaurant Seafire Grill. The former restaurant was owned by the Trak Family, who own the nearby Greek/Italian restaurant The Grapevine, among several others.

The White Anchovy will spotlight Mediterranean fare in a casual setting. No word on an opening date.
