Photos: Over 900 Kids Take Part in Short Pump Mile & Express Fun Run

Over 900 youth ran in the third annual Short Pump Mile and Express Fun Run Sunday morning at Short Pump Town Center. The race showed huge growth this year, with greater than 50% growth in runners from last year’s event. Runners from Rivers Edge Elementary School in Glen Allen won $600 for their schools physical fitness program by entering 116 into the race, the most ever by any school.

Over 900 youth ran in the third annual Short Pump Mile and Express Fun Run Sunday morning at Short Pump Town Center. The race showed huge growth this year, with greater than 50% growth in runners from last year’s event.  Runners from Rivers Edge Elementary School in Glen Allen won $600 for their schools physical fitness program by entering 116 into the race, the most ever by any school.

Below are the five schools who all will benefit based on the sponsorship of St. Mary’s for Kids.

First Place ($600) – Rivers Edge Elementary

Second Place ($500) – Collegiate School

Third Place ($400) – Nuckols Farm Elementary

Fourth Place ($300) – Shady Grove Elementary

Fifth Place ($200) – Colonial Trail Elementary

Over 120 individual awards were given out to age group winners, with Jenny Lomicka repeating as the overall girls champion, with a 6:05 time.

Keane Dye won the boys race to claim his second straight title as well, with a blazing 5:19 mile.
