I have heard from several sources that the Church Hill Dog Park has Parvo. How does a dog park get Parvo? According to my veterinarian, an infected dog with Parvo sheds the virus and it can live in the soil for years. You can then get the virus on your shoes or the dogs feet and the moment your dog licks your shoe or it’s paw he or she has the chance of becoming infected. Because Parvo is a virus antibiotics are useless against it, therefore prevention is key. True or not this is a good reminder to make sure your dog is fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before taking your dog to the dog park. Prevention will save you a lot of heartache in the end.
