Local Writer Joins in Friday for the Arts! with a Book Signing – June 12, 2009 6 to 10 pm – Siege Museum, 15 W Bank St. in historic Old Towne Petersburg.
Writer James T. Fleming will be hosted at the Siege Museum with a brief presentation pertaining to his debut novel, Southern Dreams: Broken and Fulfilled. The presentation begins at 6:15 pm and will be followed by a book signing.
Fleming deftly mixes fact with fiction in this touching story about love, family, war, regret and reconciliation from 1858 1868, a time of great suffering in America. His characters are truly believable. Their struggles will touch your heart and give you a renewed appreciation for the men, women and children who lived through the War Between the States. Within the pages of his novel, Flemings characters portray a mixed-bag of human nature—theyre good, bad, spoiled, inspirational, and sometimes all of these things. At the climax of the story, you will be compelled toas Fleming himself didsee something within each character worthy of respect. He grew to understand each individual; to forgive them, love them, but most of all, to relate to them. Southern Dreams is an enjoyable book, filled with enough surprises to keep you turning the pages.
