New Exit Ramp At Nuckols & I-295 Interchange Expected To Open Tuesday

Drivers using the I-295 north ramp to Nuckols Road towards Twin Hickory will notice a traffic pattern change this week. A new exit ramp is opening that will alleviate rush hour traffic in the busy Innsbrook area. The contractor has completed the majority of the project including asphalt overlay on the ramp and pavement marking.
Once a new guardrail is installed Monday, drivers will have a continuous merge onto Nuckols Road as early as Tuesday afternoon, according to VDOT spokeswoman Dawn Eischen. Drivers from I-295 north previously had to stop before continuing on to Nuckols Road. This will result in a smoother flow of traffic from I-295 to Nuckols Road.
This project also included similar construction at the I-295 south ramp to Nuckols Road towards Innsbrook, which was completed on May 28. The contractor began work on the northbound ramp soon thereafter and the entire project is expected to be completed ahead of the scheduled June 23 completion date.
