If you agree with these statements, “I like being part of the solution” and “make a difference for the environment,” then you’ll appreciate what about 30 volunteers did on Saturday for National Trails Day on the Buttermilk Trail and in Forest Hill Park.

REI supplied volunteers with t-shirts with those statements for participating. It was great to see an army of volunteers marching through the parks.

One of the best suggestions for trail-users, especially bike riders, is to give back to the trails by volunteering at least once a year. There were several riders that stopped in Forest Hill Park and said they wished they had known so they too could have volunteered.  There were also several hikers and people visiting the park for the South of the James Market that paused to thank the volunteers.
