A 36 hour feat that many thought impossible has netted more than $2,500 for a local charity. The Salvation Army Richmond’s Music Director Matt Sims played his instrument for an entire day and a half outside Dick’s Sporting Goods at Short Pump Town Center, a feat never before accomplished by any Salvation Army musician anywhere.

The temperature dropped into the upper 20s Friday night and early into Saturday morning, but Sims  kept on playing.

“Every day, we see the ever increasing needs for Salvation Army services right here in our community, so I really wanted a way to use my God given talent to help those in need,” Sims said about his motivation behind the music marathon.

A video of Sims playing his final notes around 9:00 p.m. Saturday can be seen below.
