From the James River Association:

On Friday, November 4, JRA went out on a chilly and cloudy day with 11 volunteers from Tredegar to work on restoring habitat at Pony Pasture along the banks of the James River in Richmond.

Ralph White, the James River Park System Park Manager/Naturalist, started off with a talk about the park and the importance of native species and how to identify the invasives that they would be removing. They removed 2 tons of invasive species including periwinkle and bush honeysuckle. After the invasives were removed they planted 1,740 of the native Virginia Bluebell that will bloom next spring.

“Falling Springs is honored to partner with the James River Association to clean up the James River Park System,” said Duncan C. Heyward, Jr., Project Manager at Falling Springs, LLC. “Projects like this help to keep the James River more sustainable for years to come.”
