THE 6th ANNUAL JONNY Z FESTIVAL

A Celebration of Art, Music & Community
Inspired by our friend Jon Zanin

Saturday, August 10, 2013, 12-5pm
200 block of N. Shields Avenue in front of Joe’s Inn (between Grove and Hanover)

Join us and celebrate the creative spirit here in Richmond during this fun, funky, FREE, kid-friendly event. We’ll be closing off a block in the Fan for a party where families can enjoy a variety of children’s activities including a moon bounce, face painting, and various art activities. Vendors from The Bizarre Market will showcase local arts and crafts, with 10 percent of all sales benefiting ART 180. Food will be available from Joe’s Inn and other street vendors. Music will be provided by our media sponsor, WRIR, and local musicians Josh Small, Hot Dolphin, Black Liquid, and more!

Plus, we’ll have raffle drawings for restaurant gift certificates and other great prizes that include a bicycle courtesy of Bunnyhop. Commemorative T-shirts will be for sale. ART 180’s Teen Leadership group will provide activities including the Wheel of Kindness.

Jon Zanin, known to countless adoring friends as Jonny Z, died in 2007 at the age of 26. Zanin is remembered as a creative and compassionate soul who loved to make art and music, and who was a friend to all and enemy to none, a champion for the underdog. The festival honors his legacy, celebrates his spirit, and promotes art, music, community and friendship.

ABOUT ART 180
ART 180 gives young people in challenging circumstances the chance to express themselves through art, and to share their stories with others. Since 1998, the nonprofit organization has worked with youth in the Richmond area to create art that explains and illustrates their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Partnering with other organizations that serve young people, ART 180 designs projects that allow for self-expression, and creates venues for this expression in the community. The name reflects their vision of turning lives and communities around 180 degrees. ART 180 also operates Atlas, an art center for teens in Jackson Ward.
