Just under 800 people turned out at the Deep Run Recreation Center on Saturday for The Hunt for Henrico History, an exhibition celebrating four centuries of the county’s rich history, beginning with the Citie of Henricus in 1611.

The event was first in a series of activities planned throughout the year to mark the 400th anniversary of Henrico County.

Experts were on hand at the exhibition to offer advice on the storage of personal historical treasures, as well as to offer to scan photos and other items brought in for inclusion in a public archive.

In the facility’s gym were just under two dozen displays on the history of local neighborhoods and organizations, as well as a variety of historical re-enactors.

For more information on upcoming events planned to celebrate the county’s 400th, visit the Henrico 400th website.
