The Music and Magic of the Holidays Comes to Old Towne Petersburg

Last year’s standing room only holiday concert, Deck The Halls, moves to the much larger Petersburg Regional Art Center (PRAC) this year as part of Friday for the Arts on December 11th at 7pm in Old Towne Petersburg. Full of music that ranges from the humorous to the sacred, the free concert features soloists and ensembles from the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology (ARGS). The annual reading of “Twas The Night Before Christmas” by well known actress Daphne Maxwell Reid will also take place.

Beginning at 6pm guests can stroll PRAC’s galleries featuring the work of artists Dr. Bill Sabino and Charles Meyer while partaking of delicious food as window displays literally come to life. The 7pm concert will include arrangements of beloved songs such as “Jingle Bells” and “Mary, Did You Know”, as well as gems such as “Stepping Out with Santa” and “Cold & Fugue Season” performed by ARGS’ vocal and instrumental ensembles. After the performance families can enjoy The Magic of Zack Owen and stroll along Old Towne’s shops and galleries while enjoying the lights. Coupons for discounted tickets to Chesterfield School of Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker at ARGS on Saturday Dec 12th will also be available.

Further information is available through the ARGS Theatre Box Office by contacting them at 722-0204, through e-mail at tickets@args.k12.va.us, or by visiting www.argstheatre.com.
