Godwin High School student organizations, DECA and FBLA, are hosting a charity event tonight in the form of a prom fashion show, entitled “A Show of Caring” in which all proceeds will go to ASK (Assistance, Support and Kindness for Children with Cancer). The foundation, based out of the Medical College of Virginia, provides financial, spiritual, social and emotional support directly to over 1000 children and their families annually.

“[The show] started as a class project for Fashion Marketing and evolved to a community service project for DECA and FBLA,” Marketing teacher Debbie Ross said. DECA and FBLA are national organizations comprised of Marketing and Business students, respectively.

The Godwin Prom Fashion show will include a variety of dresses and tuxedos from both Richmond-based and national apparel corporations such as Dillard’s, Black House White Market, Cache, Nittaya’s Designs and Men’s Warehouse. All dresses and tuxedos will be modeled by Godwin High School students. There will be a modern dance performance as well as drawings for prizes including two $50 gift certificates for Osaka Japanese Restaurant and a free limousine ride.

“A Show of Caring” is scheduled to begin March 10th at 7:00 p.m. and conclude around 8:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at and at the door for $6.00.
