A local Henrico County library closed its doors this past weekend. The Gayton Library, located at 10600 Gayton Road in the Far West End, will remain closed for renovations and improvements until sometime in 2012. The county promises a long list of improvements once the branch reopens next year.

According to officials with the County of Henrico Public Library, the new facility will include a more comfortable, open interior, new teen space, an updated book and media collection and a new and improved study area.

No materials can be returned to this location, but can be returned to any other library. Nearby locations include the Twin Hickory and Tuckahoe Area Libraries.

The project has been made possible by the 2005 Henrico County bond referendum, the same funding that allowed for the construction of the Twin Hickory Area Library, the North Gayton Road Extension Project and several new fire stations, just to name a few.
