The Henrico Education Foundation Inc. has awarded 20 grants totaling $34,920 to support Henrico County Public Schools for the 2010-11 school year. One of the major grants is going towards a project at the new Holman Middle School off Nuckols Road.

HEF is Henrico County Public Schools’ private funding partner that provides funding to county classrooms to impact students through a variety of programs with one singular vision in mind—to enrich the learning experience of all Henrico students.

HEF funded a Strengths Finder 2.0 grant at the school, which opened this fall. Principal Brian Fellows explained, “The funding allowed the team to work with a trained facilitator prior to the start of school so each individual could identify his/her top five strengths and, more importantly, showed us how to most effectively work with one another as a group as we embark on projects together over the coming months and years. We are grateful to HEF and value the relationship the foundation has with our school division.”

“We are looking forward to seeing how these imaginative projects impact students and teachers,” said Heidi Crapol, HEF board member.
