A briefcase left on a sidewalk near a home in Richmond’s Fan District late last night prompted police to call bomb-squad technicians.
The 2000 block of Park Avenue was sealed off from traffic for about two hours until technicians determined the case was empty.
Richmond police Capt. David L. Martin said authorities were called at 9:51 p.m. when someone noticed the briefcase on a sidewalk next to a house.
Bomb-squad technicians eventually used an X-ray imaging device to determine the briefcase was empty.
