An accident caused several thousands dollars in damage to Can Can Brasserie in Richmond’s Carytown on Monday.

A driver parked outside the restaurant put her car into drive instead of reverse, crashing into a side window.

There were no serious injuries reported. The call came into police about 2:48 p.m., to the 3100 block of Cary Street.

“As it turns out, she had some type of medical emergency and blacked out behind the wheel, and instead of putting the vehicle into reverse she put it into drive, knocking the sign into the window of the business,” Richmond police officer Matt Cavanaugh said.

The driver was not injured, nor were occupants. Fortunately the car did not go through the window or it would have fallen down onto anyone dining in that area.
