The official opening of the Army Logistics University took place on July 2 at Fort Lee.

According to university officials, classes will begin in August. Students from Maryland’s Aberdeen Proving Ground will be the first individuals relocating to Fort Lee as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission plan.

Combined with students transferring from the Quartermaster School, approximately 900 students are expected at the recently built university campus in the fall.

More than 200 courses offered at different installations are being merged and offered at the university. By 2011 about 31,000 military and civilian students and international officers will take resident courses annually through the university.
