The Squirrels finish up with Altoona, head out for Erie. Eight games left in 2010.
The Flying Squirrels (64-49) took the road to Altoona (79-55) for the last time this season and won 2 of 5 against the team that has all but locked up the Western Division title. Richmond picked up the first game of the trip, the completion of the game suspended on July 12. They were then out-scored 13-3 and dropped three straight before taking the last match of the season between the two clubs.
Richmond heads up to Jerry Uht Park in Erie for the last 4 games of the last roadtrip of 2010. The Squirrels are 7-3 on the season against the SeaWolves (60-74), including a 3-game sweep in the Squirrels’ only previous visit this year. Keep an eye on Erie’s Adam Wilk, fresh up to AA. His first appearance on the mound for Erie came on August 25, when he turned in eight 1-hit, no run innings against the Altoona Curve.
While not mathematically elimated from playoff contention, the Squirrels only have one more game of padding before that is a reality. At five games under .500 with 8 games left, the Flying Squirrels can only lose one more game and still salvage a winning season.
