Jerquell Cheatham—2016 Richmond Homicide #4

Here’s what we know.

We’re calling this “Homicide #4” because it is the fourth in confirmed homicides that were originally committed in 2016 within city limits.

Original — January 20, 2016

Following the indictment of the suspect in question, the RPD are asking for help from people in attendance at Illusions Nightclub on January 18th.


Jerquell Cheatham, 21 of the 700 block of Everett Street.

The Incident

  • Where: Illusions Night Club, 6346 Midlothian Turnpike, on Southside.
  • When: Monday, January 18th around 1:00 AM.
  • Weapon: Gun, one apparent shot, pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Other injuries: Another man, unnamed by RPD, was shot, and a woman who was attempting to flee was hit by a car in the parking lot.

The Investigation

The Richmond Police Department, with cooperation from the Henrico County Police and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Trevell A. Harvey, 27, of the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue, on January 19th.

Harvey has been charged with use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was indicted by a multi-jurisdictional grand jury on January 27th and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The police are asking for assistance from witnesses.
