James River Women Kayak Clinics

Are you taking full advantage of the river if you’re not in the middle of it, every now and again?

If you’ve ever wanted to be one of those cool cats on the river but don’t know how, now is your chance to learn with the James River Women.

There are Tuesday and Saturday options available and you’ll learn what words such as, hydrology and wet exits really mean.

Join fellow James River Women on the river for a ladies only clinic and learn the basics of whitewater kayaking. Attend a single Saturday session or two after work Tuesday evening sessions.

Learn the basic skills of whitewater kayaking from our certified instructors. Both options will start with a flatwater session allowing participants to become familiar with the equipment, strokes, & boat control before tackling any rapids. Ladies in the Saturday session will continue downstream and paddle the rapids of the Upper James from Pony Pasture to Reedy Creek. Those participating in the Tuesday sessions will paddle their first session at Tredegar Flatwater near Brown’s Island and return the following Tuesday for a trip down the Upper James.
