Good morning RVA: Impending rain and balmy(ish) temperatures
Today’s mid-60s temperatures will mostly be spoiled by rain. Bummer!
It’s already 41 °F, and the day has yet to begin!
Today’s high will be around 65 °F, which is dangerously close to patio weather. Luckily (trust me, drinking a cold beer while shivering on a patio is not pleasant), there’s a good chance of rain throughout the day so bring your umbrella and set those patio dreams aside…for now.
The roads look a million times safer this morning than yesterday’s slip-and-slide situation. But as the rain starts to move in, take your time, and turn your headlights on.
Olympics watch
Alex Deibold picked up Team USA’s lone Olympic medal yesterday: a bronze in the men’s snowboard cross. Team USA now has 20 medals total, tied for first place with the Netherlands.
Today’s medal event schedule includes: women’s snowboarding parallel giant slalom, men’s snowboarding parallel giant slalom, men’s skiing giant slalom, women’s cross-country skiing team sprint, men’s cross-country skiing team sprint, women’s speed skating 5000m, and biathlon mixed relay.
Also at 12:00 PM (Richmond time), the men’s hockey team takes on the Czech Republic in the quarter finals.

The Richmond Spiders fell last night to the George Washington Colonials, 73-65. Freshman ShawnDre’ Jones had a career-high 25 points. With the loss, the Spiders are firmly on the bubble.
Virginia Tech alum DeAngelo Hall signed a four-year deal with the Washington Redskins.
