Good morning, RVA! It’s 60 °F, and Richmond has another beautiful day in store for us. You know the drill: clear skies, highs in the mid-80s, and a perfect day to ride your bike to work, school, or whatever previous commitments you may have.

Water cooler

Next we speak, Richmond will be deep in the throes of the Big Bicycle Race™. Opening ceremonies take place tonight on Brown’s Island, with races beginning in earnest on Saturday. We’re going to do our best to keep you informed each day, but please, please, please look at navigate.richmond2015.com before you hop in your car. I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about how they encountered unexpected traffic or road closures!

The 2015 Amazing Raise has finished all its raising, topping out at $1,837,100.69 given to area nonprofits. Whoadang, that’s a lot of money! CHAT, yet again, dominated the field–probably because of these wonderfully charming Meo Jumps videos.

Wait a second, what’s going on with VCU’s Institute for Contemporary Art at the corner of Broad and Belvidere? I’ve been so caught up in Big Bike Race™ fever that I kind of forgot about how it’s just a massive, literal hole in the ground. Karin Kapsidelis has the details of cost overruns related to geothermal wells–which sound very expensive but very awesome.

WTVR interviews German exchange student Evita Giebeler about our a Confederate monuments and symbols, “There should be facts available, so people understand what the context is and who the people are,” she says. I agree with you Evita! To provide folks with this very context, the American Civil War Museum will host a series of History Happy Hours at Plant Zero every night of the Big Bike Race™. The speaker list is super legit, check it out!

Vox has an in depth look at republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina’s stint as HP’s CEO which you should read if you watched Donald Trump punish her on stage at the debate for running that company into the ground.
