Daylight robbery at Schwarzchild Jewelers in Carytown

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday at Schwarzchild Jewelers in Carytown.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred today at Schwarzchild Jewelers in Carytown.

At 2:49 p.m., officers were called to the jewelry store in the 31-hundred block of West Cary Street. Minutes earlier, three men had entered the store, smashed several display cases and fled with the contents. Two clerks were slightly injured when they were struck by a Taser-like device, possibly a stun gun. No other weapons were displayed other than a hammer that was used to break the glass of the display cases.

No description of the items taken or their value is available at this time.

Store surveillance video will be analyzed and may be released if investigators believe it may be helpful in solving this crime.

These are the suspect descriptions, which include a fourth man who remained outside the store:

#1 – black male, 6’2”, 250 lbs., mid-30s, dreadlocks in a pony tail, tan tee-shirt, carrying a hammer.
#2 – black male, 5’5”, 140-150 lbs., mid-20s, black tee-shirt with blue & red squares, carrying a stun gun.
#3 – black male, 5’8”, 140-150 lbs., late-20s, red baseball cap.
#4 – black male, no further description.

The four men were last seen running from the store and down Belmont Street before splitting into two groups of two and being lost to sight by witnesses.
