Food photography should only be attempted and shared by professionals.

Bill Addison is an editor and confessed serial food photo hound. He travels around the country for Eater magazine eating and taking pictures of wonderful food.

Yesterday he listed The 12 Most Utterly Gorgeous Plates of Food Bill Addison Ate This Year and Pasture was one of the chosen few. His pictures also remind us that y’all need to step up your food photos.

Jason Alley and Michele Jones’s downtown charmer, now in its fifth year, nails the qualities of a community hub: fun, refreshing cocktails; an attentive staff (greeting a steady stream of regulars), and easy-to-love food that reflects the region. Cured pork ribs hooked me with their pan-Southern appeal. The tug-with-the-teeth texture and frank saltiness evoke Virginia’s love of ham, but the light gloss of mayo-based white barbecue sauce comes directly from Alabama traditions. 416 East Grace Street, Richmond, (804) 780-0416, pastureva.com
