Kabana raising the bar above all others, literally

Featuring premium Neoilth stone bar tops, weathered teakwood table tops and poolside daybeds, the 275 occupancy outdoor patio will feature a retractable ceiling and glass bi-fold doors to create a natural synergy with the bustling energy of the 125 seating main dining room.

Postbellum built a nice rooftop space but unfortunately not much of a view and up a single flight of stairs. Quirk stepped up and opened a rooftop bar that offers an impressive view of downtown. Now we have word of Kabana, which will be head and shoulders above the rest, at least in height.

Richmond’s burgeoning dining scene will reach new heights on June 1, 2016, with the opening of Kabana, Richmond’s highest and most exciting rooftop restaurant and lounge by renowned lifestyle company LX Group in collaboration with Shamin Hotels. Located on the 20th floor of Hilton’s Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites in Downtown Richmond, Kabana will bring diners unparalleled views of the city, including the iconic James River and Virginia State Capitol, paired with a contemporary Asian-inspired menu from Richmond native, Chef Warren Jones.

“We are thrilled to bring Kabana to downtown Richmond,” said Managing Partner Kunal Shah. “Richmond has never seen anything like Kabana before. Our stunning rooftop setting with incomparable views combined with Chef Jones’ delicious and skillfully executed Asian-inspired menu and General Manager Sean Rapoza’s outstanding beverage program is impossible to resist! We are very proud to share Kabana with Richmond, my hometown city!”

Jones’ vibrant menu reflects his long-held passion for and knowledge of Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese cuisines. The Kabana menu expertly blends complex Asian flavors and textures to create a modern menu that hits all of the right notes. Diners can begin their meals with offerings likeSom Tum, Ahi Poke or Kamikaze Chips before transitioning into larger mains like Ramen Tonkotsu or Jones’ twist on Fish & Chips. Weekend brunch will also be available for midday diners, with eclectic Asian dishes including Bibimbap, Breakfast Wok, Bahn Mi Breakfast Bagel and Pad Krapow Fried Rice.

Complementing the menu will be a meticulous bar program curated by Kabana’s General Manager, Sean Rapoza, (formerly of Balliceaux) who plans to work closely with Jones to create a Tiki-inspired cocktail list replete with rum-heavy libations that perfectly balance the flavor-rich menu. The bar offerings will be rounded out with a thoughtfully composed international wine list including stellar wines from Spain, South Africa and southern France. Additionally there will be a deep selection of sparkling wines and Champagnes, with a unique collection of large format bottles for special occasions. Draft wines, both still and sparkling, will also be offered. The beer program has a special emphasis on easy-drinking beers that work well with Chef Jones’ vibrant flavors as well as an extensive selection of canned domestic IPAs, including several local favorites.

Designed in collaboration with Michael Sweeney at Shamin Hotels, the 9,000-square-foot space will feature glass-paneled walls offering virtually no obstructed views of Richmond. Inspired by the raw beauty of rooftop space with a nod to tropical living, Kabana is a downtown destination rooftop oasis. Featuring premium Neoilth stone bar tops, weathered teakwood table tops and poolside daybeds, the 275 occupancy outdoor patio will feature a retractable ceiling and glass bi-fold doors to create a natural synergy with the bustling energy of the 125 seating main dining room.

Kabana is located at 700 E. Main St., Richmond, VA 23219. Guests will enter on Main St. and be directed by a hostess, at the base of the elevators, to the rooftop. It will be open for dinner daily and brunch on the weekends. For more information or to book a reservation, visit www.kabanarooftop.com.
