Yellow Umbrella moves, Racine rumors fly, and Pie opens in Manchester
One Fan bar is on (financial) thin ice, and another bar may soon close. But two other restaurants get new digs.
Rumor has it that Racine is closed. According to their Facebook page, landlord/lease issues have caused the Robinson Street restaurant to shut its doors. Another rumor circulating is that there’s a pop-up restaurant soon moving into the space. Nothing has been 100% confirmed, but we have lots of calls and emails out asking questions to the owners and managers. Check back for more info!

What we DO know is that the Martini Kitchen and Bubble bar has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Richmond Bizsense reports that the initial filing states the restaurant owes at least $236,000 to 20 creditors. Owners plan to keep the business open during proceedings.

The Yellow Umbrella, Richmond’s beloved seafood shop, is moving down the street to 5603 Patterson Avenue (approximately 347 steps from their old location, according to a press release). The new location will not only offer the best seafood for purchase, but it will also house a butcher shop, so you’ll be able to choose from a variety of high quality meats while there. It’s truly a one-stop surf and turf! Cellar to Table proprietor Kate Haydon will be joining the team with a great selection of wines and cheeses, and there will also be seasonal vegetables and unique grocery items for sale. The grand opening of the revamped store is on Wednesday, February 6th.

According to Hills and Heights, Pie has opened a second location in Manchester. The Fan restaurant has been open for almost two years now at 214 N. Lombardy Street, serving pizzas, calzones, salads, and other appetizers. The Manchester location also offers up hand made pizzas along with a variety of sandwiches. At the moment, it’s more of a pickup and delivery spot, but once their liquor license is approved, the cozy bar will prove to be a great place to share a pie. You can check out the menu here.
